DUNCANS 48" COMMUNITY NEST BOX
Introducing our 48" Community Style Reversible Roll Out Nest Box - We have had a lot of requests for this nest - It is now available.
We have had a lot of interest in a nest box that can easily be reversed, into a rear roll out nest.
The great part about it reversing is you can stick the rollout part through a wall, so that you do not have to go into your coop to gather eggs. See the pictures of the one in our coop and also the basket of clean eggs - I promise you they have not been washed or cleaned in any way. Some of those are from our regular rollout nests and some from the community nest. We rarely have an egg that needs much cleaning and no broken eggs ever.
We have been selling these nests in our retail store for a while, with great feedback. The 3 main question we get are :
1. Won't the eggs break when they roll out into the collection bin? No, they really do not roll very fast at all, they certainly do not break as that would defeat the purpose.
2. How many hens can this nest accommodate? Up to 20. Sometimes there will be 4 hens in there at one time, the other hens wait their turn.
3. Whats up with the curtains? It really entices more than one bird to get in there at a time, and the hens seem to like the privacy. The only down side is, if you get a broody hen, they will tend to try to the hold eggs under them and sit on them. The curtains are easily removable for cleaning or replacement.
Made from galvanized 24 Gauge metal that is thicker and longer lasting, even the nice shiny red top had galvanizing beneath it.
The new hanging system is very versatile and makes nest placement a breeze.
It is vented to keep the birds cooler in the hot summer months.
The bottom is NOT made from wire - it is perforated galvanized metal, that allows droppings and debris to fall right through, you will not have to clean this nest very often!!
The roll out collection bin area has a sturdy hinged cover, to keep the eggs cleaner and makes it easier to collect eggs, especially for kids, or anyone who is a little timid about reaching under a hen sitting in the nest
Helps cut down on, dirty and broken eggs, and that chicken that pecks eggs is out of luck.
Comes with a large one piece washable nest pad!
The perches are made from upcycled lumber!
They are a very attractive nest that will last a long long time.
When in the reverse postion the back swings inward to allow full access to the inside of the nest. Also when in the reverse postion there are latches to hold the egg lid closed, so that varmints cannot sneak in thru the back door , so to speak.
Assembly. The base of this nest comes pre-assembled, you only have to finish it up. 15- 20 minute job - If you have ever assembled one of the other guys nests, you are going to be in for a pleasant surprise.....there are no nuts, or pop rivets, only Philips head bolts all the same size! Every hole that the bolts go into is threaded. So you don't have to stand on your head to get that tiny little nut on that tiny little bolt, clear back up in the corner.
